He summons the devil, Mephistopheles and the terms of their pact are agreed upon. In return for his immortal soul, Faustus will be granted 24 years of absolute power. He signs away his soul in his own blood. Without any evidence of repentance, he spends the time with other scholars having feasts and drinks. He continues to use his power to swindle and humiliate anyone he pleases. Time is running out for Faustus, in the meantime he asks Mephistopheles to bring Helen of Troy to give. him comfort and love during his remaining time. The clock strikes eleven, his final monologue reveals his regret. Finally, Faustus reveals to his friends that he is a damned soul and his power comes at a high price. At midnight, the devil enters as Faustus begs God and devil for mercy but there is no mercy as he is dragged down to hell.
