উত্তর: Diaspora Diaspora simply means movement of a group of people from one country to another. In fact, the term 'diaspora refers to people who have left their homelands and settled in other parts of the world either willingly or being forced or for both reasons. There are some major reasons for which people move to a foreign country. Colonization, imperialism, conflict, wars, ravages of nature, scientific and technological advancement, poverty, transportation of labour, high ambition for better living, brain drain, globalization, etc. are the reasons of people's such movement. There is a long historical background of diasporas across the globe such as the expulsion of the Jews from Judah, the fleeing of the Greeks following Turkey's attack, the fall of Constantinople, the African Trans-Atlantic slave trade, the movement of Aryans from Central Europe. After the World War II, British government, because of labour crisis, encouraged labour migration from its former colonies. Much of these labour was recruited from South Asia in general and from Sylhet in particular. Though the world people have seen many diasporas, scholars have studied the issue only in recent decades.
