উত্তর: Environment Pollution All our surroundings including air, water, soil, trees, animals, etc. make up our environment. When the normal relations among these elements of nature are disturbed, the ecological balance is hampered and it is called environmental pollution. It is a pity that the main elements of the environment which are essential for all living beings, are being polluted in many ways. Men are responsible for environmental pollution. Their inconsiderate activities are accelerating environmental pollution. The smoke from factories and motor vehicles contain harmful substances like carbon monoxide and sulphur dioxide. These have hampered the cleanliness of the air. Mills and factories set up by riverbanks let out chemical wastes in the river water. These poisonous substances are destroying the plants and creatures of the waterbodies. Pesticides and chemical fertilizers used in agriculture are also polluting water. When people drink this water or take a bath in the polluted water, they are attacked with stomach and skin diseases. Due to air pollution, carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is increasing which causes climate change. Due to climate change, various natural calamities such as storm, cyclone, flood, drought, heat wave, etc. are increasing day by day. Environment pollution may be controlled by taking different measures. We may increase afforestation. If trees are planted in large numbers, we can be benefited in different ways. Trees also increase rainfall and prevent air pollution. Laws should be passed to prevent factories from dumping wastes into rivers. বাংলা অনুবাদঃ আমাদের চারপাশের পরিবেশ গঠিত হয় বাতাস, পানি, মাটি, গাছপালা, প্রাণী ইত্যাদি নিয়ে। যখন এই প্রাকৃতিক উপাদানগুলোর মধ্যে স্বাভাবিক সম্পর্ক বিঘ্নিত হয়, তখন পরিবেশের ভারসাম্য নষ্ট হয় এবং এটি পরিবেশ দূষণ নামে পরিচিত। দুঃখজনক হলেও সত্যি, পরিবেশের প্রধান উপাদানগুলো, যা সমস্ত জীবের জন্য অপরিহার্য, বিভিন্নভাবে দূষিত হচ্ছে। পরিবেশ দূষণের জন্য মানুষই দায়ী। তাদের অসচেতন কার্যকলাপ পরিবেশ দূষণকে দ্রুততর করছে। কলকারখানা এবং মোটরযানের ধোঁয়ায় কার্বন মনোক্সাইড এবং সালফার ডাই অক্সাইডের মতো ক্ষতিকারক পদার্থ থাকে, যা বায়ুর বিশুদ্ধতা নষ্ট করছে। নদীর তীরে স্থাপিত কলকারখানাগুলো রাসায়নিক বর্জ্য নদীর পানিতে ফেলে দিচ্ছে। এই বিষাক্ত পদার্থগুলো জলজ উদ্ভিদ ও প্রাণীর ক্ষতি করছে। কৃষিতে ব্যবহৃত কীটনাশক এবং রাসায়নিক সারও পানিকে দূষিত করছে। যখন মানুষ এই দূষিত পানি পান করে বা এতে গোসল করে, তখন তারা পেটের রোগ এবং ত্বকের রোগে আক্রান্ত হয়। বায়ু দূষণের কারণে বায়ুমণ্ডলে কার্বন ডাই অক্সাইডের পরিমাণ বাড়ছে, যা জলবায়ু পরিবর্তনের কারণ হচ্ছে। জলবায়ু পরিবর্তনের ফলে ঝড়, ঘূর্ণিঝড়, বন্যা, খরা, তাপপ্রবাহ ইত্যাদির মতো প্রাকৃতিক দুর্যোগ দিন দিন বাড়ছে। পরিবেশ দূষণ নিয়ন্ত্রণে বিভিন্ন পদক্ষেপ নেওয়া যেতে পারে। আমরা বনায়ন বাড়াতে পারি। প্রচুর গাছ লাগানো হলে আমরা বিভিন্ন উপায়ে উপকৃত হতে পারি। গাছ বৃষ্টিপাত বাড়ায় এবং বায়ু দূষণ রোধ করে। এছাড়া, কারখানাগুলোকে নদীতে বর্জ্য ফেলা থেকে বিরত রাখতে কঠোর আইন প্রণয়ন করা উচিত। এভাবে সঠিক পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করে আমরা পরিবেশ দূষণ রোধ করতে পারি এবং আমাদের পৃথিবীকে বাসযোগ্য রাখতে পারি।
