উত্তর: Democracy and Dictatorship In the present world, there prevails two types of government- democracy and autocracy or dictatorship . The purpose or function of both types of government is to govern the country. In a democratic system, the government is established by the direct votes of the people. As such public opinion and support is reflected in this government. On the other hand, in a dictatorial government, the ruler is not elected by the people and he/she holds the absolute power. Very often dictatorial government captures ruling power ignoring and disregarding public opinions. In the democratic system, the government gives importance to the public opinion. In this system, the press enjoys absolute freedom. Consequently, people can express their disadvantages and put up their suggestions and ideas. And the government accepts the best thing. As a result, the country gets developed day by day and people can live in peace. Contrarily, in the dictatorial government, the ruler's decision and will are decisive. In this system, the press cannot enjoy freedom and people's wishes are suppressed . Majority of the people are oppressed . When a democratic government gets established through the votes of educated and conscious people, the country advances rapidly. But if the people are illiterate and unconscious, a good democratic, government cannot come to power. As a result, the country wil suffer. Again, if a dictator is wise, pious and honest, the people ruled by him can enjoy peace and prosperity. Thus, both democracy and dictatorship have positive and negative aspects. In fact, people's peace and prosperity depend upon the nature of the government.
