উত্তর: Self-employment Self-employment (স্বনির্ভরতা/স্বাবলম্বন) means managing work by a person himself/herself. A person can employ his/her own self in various ways. Ours is an agricultural (কৃষিভিত্তিক) country. About 85 percent of the people of our country are engaged in cultivation. Our cultivation is quite backward (পশ্চাৎপদ) because of illiterate (নিরক্ষর) farmers. After successful completion of our studies, we can go back to villages and engage ourselves in self-employment. At present, scheduled banks, Grameen Bank, BSCIC, BRAC Bank and some other Non-government Organizations (সংস্থাসমূহ) give loans on easy terms to help the people set up small and cottage industries (কুটিরশিল্প) in rural areas so that they can be self-employed. With their help, our people especially the young people can set up dairy farm, poultry farm, weaving factory, pisciculture, garment industry (শিল্প), etc. Dependence (নির্ভরশীলতা) on others for employment is really bad and hateful. So, it is honourable and prestigious (সম্মানজনক) to create self-employment opportunities all over the country. We can train ourselves in various trades like radio-TV repairing, mobile phone repairing, watch repairing, electrical works and so on. Self-employment contributes (অবদান রাখা) greatly to society. There are many problems in society. Unemployment problem is one of them. Self-employment can be greatly helpful to solve this problem.
