Our cities are often unplanned, with streets unimaginably narrow for the burgeoning population. City planners hardly care for streets, they care more for skyscrappers; probably they think, man does not need to move through streets; they only sleep in skyscrappers. But it is true that various kinds of vehicles, including motor cars, are plying in the streets at full speed every day. It is terrifying (ভীতিকর) news that the number of motor cars in the streets is increasing day by day. Because side by side with the wealthy people, even the people belonging to high middle-class and low middle-class families get interested (উৎসাহী) in buying motor car for the advantage of, specially, their school-going and college-going sons and daughters. These car owners generally appoint inexperienced (অনভিজ্ঞ) and uneducated drivers with a small salary not justifying their driving licence. Consequently, these drivers cast a cold eye on the traffic law. They also hurry to violate (লঙ্ঘন করা) laws and sometimes mortal accidents occur on the streets. If these are not strictly controlled, our cities and city life will experience the hell soon. Authorities concerned must take the issue seriously and do the needful. Although the problem is not so easily solvable, what harm is there in being sincere about the concern.
