Jane Austen was born'in 1775 into an educated middle-class family. During her time, it was not considered proper that women should be writers. That is why her first book was published anonymously. Jane Austen was ever unmarried. She was a keen observer of people and an excellent letter writer. She enjoyed a pleasant, secure and strictly limited world. She wrote six novels. She died on 18 July 1817.
