The food and water in his hands turned into solid gold. He realized he would starve to death. The worst moment came when his beloved daughter ran to hug him, and she too turned into a lifeless golden statue. Heartbroken and terrified, King Midas begged Dionysus to take back the cursed wish. The god took pity on him and told him to wash his hands in the river Pactolus to undo the spell. Midas rushed to the river and was relieved to find the golden touch gone.
