উত্তর: Load-Shedding Nowadays, load shedding has become a common phenomenon in our country. Load shedding means the discontinuation of the supply of electricity for a certain period. Actually, the concerned authority stops the flow of electricity to some areas for some time to manage the shortage of power generation. The main cause of load shedding is the insufficient production of electricity. With the increase of population and the growth of industrialisation and urbanisation, the demand of electricity has increased a lot, but the production of electricity has not increased accordingly. Moreover, illegal connection, system loss or misuses of electricity are also responsible for load shedding. The sufferings caused by load shedding are beyond description. Students, patients and the industrial sectors are the worst sufferers of it. Students close their books, sit idle in darkness. They suffer a lot if it occurs in the time of their examination. In hospitals, there are many critical patients and for load shedding their condition degrades. Sometimes, operation gets delayed in hospitals for load shedding. Mills and factories become paralysed. The shortage of electricity makes the industrial production decrease and hence, the development of the country is hampered. Food preserved in refrigerator or cold storage gets rotten. Sometimes, people become the victim of pickpocket and hijack in the dark streets. Immediate steps must be taken in order to minimise load shedding. The government should set up more power stations to increase the production of electricity. Moreover,corruptions in this sector must be curbed with an iron hand. Illegal connection of electricity, undue use of power and system loss should be checked. Frequent load shedding is a great barrier to our national development. So, we all should come forward to check it.
